Borussia Dortmund star Erling Braut Haaland insists he is not thinking
about speculation linking him with a move to European giants Real Madrid as he
is determined to finish the season strongly.
The Bundesliga is set to resume on Saturday after it was
suspended for two months because of the coronavirus.
Dortmund host
Schalke as they look to keep their title challenge on track by closing down the
four-point gap to leaders Bayern Munich.
But beyond
this season several of their leading stars, such as Haaland, have been linked
with a move away from the Westfalenstadion.
The
19-year-old only joined Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in January after
snubbing a move to Manchester United but his consistent goalscoring form has attracted
attention from some of the world's biggest clubs.
There is a clause in the Norwegian's contract
which can let him walk away for just £63million in 2022.
But Real will have to shell out much more than that to land
their target this summer.
Haaland refused
to rule out a move to the Bernabeu but he also avoided adding fuel to the
rumours.
He said:
"I concentrate on doing my job, not on the attention that others direct
towards me. I do my job the best I can, it's what I like the most."
Haaland hit
12 goals in his first 11 appearances for Dortmund and he is hoping that record
can only get better when the season resumes.
"I certainly got off to a good start here in
Dortmund," he added.
"I am
concentrating on working to improve every day.
"I see
that by taking care of the details I learn more and more, trying to be in the
best shape possible."
Meanwhile,
Haaland's former youth team coach Alf Ingve Berntsen thinks the striker is
ready to move to La Liga
Erling Braut Haaland has scored 12 goals in 11
appearances for Dortmund
"If I were the coach of any of the five best teams in the
world, I would buy him [Haaland] immediately," Berntsen told Bernabeu
Digital.
"I think
he is ready to play for Real Madrid and I think he could succeed there.
"Erling
is only 19 years old and he can still improve in all facets and parts of the
game.
"I think
that if the great clubs don't sign him... they may regret it later."
