Grealish makes transfer admission
Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish was asked about his future in the wake of the club's important 1-0 win over Arsenal in the Premier League.
The attacking midfielder has been linked with Manchester United and his future was naturally a talking point post-match after what could have potentially been his final game at Villa Park.
Villa pulled off an important victory thanks to Trézéguet's goal in the opening half hour, with the hosts holding on to claim three valuable points.
Asked about whether it was his final game at Villa Park afterwards, Grealish told Sky Sports: "I'm not sure to at the moment. I have one aim and that's to keep the club in the Premier League. That's all I'm thinking about at the moment and that's all I can think of."
Grealish 's comments perhaps lend credence to the view that he might be leaving Villa this summer but one thing's for certain, the 24-year-old is firmly focused on one job at the moment.
"It would mean everything to me (to stay up). Since we have been back I haven't been as effective. Not one bit. Pressure is a privilege. I'm probably not as fit as I was before the break," he continued.
On the victory over Arsenal itself, Grealish added: "It was unbelievable and deserved. I thought we were outstanding, particularly our game management and our defence.
"The only problem was we could have got another goal. but you have seen what they did to Man City.
"It has been a tense day but we can only focus on ourselves. It's up to us. We have a massive game at West Ham now. We will be giving it our all.
"Since we came back we've deserved more. We probably conceded too many goals before the restart. We had zoom calls and we have defended well since then.
"We have conceded quite a few late goals this season but deep down we all knew we'd hold on."
Villa fans go nuts at Arsenal win
Watford dropped into 18th place following a 4-0 defeat to Manchester City and they saw their goal difference wiped out in the process.
That means Villa and the Hornets are level on 34 points but the former's goal difference is better by one because of tonight's win.
Villa are now in the driving seat and play West Ham United on Sunday while Watford play Arsenal and AFC Bournemouth a place below and three points behind head to Everton.
One said: "GET IN!! Hard work and fight from every player, what a performance. One more big effort."
Villa suffer big injury blow against Arsenal
Villa were forced into a change just 25 minutes into the clash with Arsenal.
Right-back Ahmed Elmohamady took a knock during the opening stages but soldiered on until the first drinks break.
Frenchman Frederic Guilbert has replaced the Egyptian for his first taste of match action since Leicester before lockdown way back in March.
Guilbert had been managing a knee injury previously.
Villa scored shortly after Elmohamady's injury, his compatriot Trezeguet rifling home from a corner.
The Egyptian international scored his third goal in three games to put Dean Smith's side ahead at Villa Park.
Elmohamady has made 17 appearances this season and has started the last two League matches.
Mbwana Samatta went down after a collision later on but he carried on.
Kroenke told to leave Arsenal
A banner was flown over Villa Park last night calling for Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke to leave the club.
The plane flying the banner could be heard over the television commentary of Villa vs Arsenal tonight during the early stages of the match.
With matches being played behind closed doors the droning noise created by the plane's ending could easily be heard over the broadcast of tonight's crunch match for Villa in their fight to avoid relegation.
The noise prompted viewers to question what was happening on social media and it soon became apparent that there was a plane overhead in B6.
It isn't the first time that Arsenal's fans have publicly called on their American owner to leave the Emirates Stadium, with a sign calling on head coach Mikel Arteta to be backed held up during interviews after the 2-0 defeat of Manchester City in the FA Cup over the weekend.
Tonight's banner was in a similar vein: "Back Arteta, Kroenke out."
